Sir Samuel Griffith Society Executive Director Xavier Boffa says his society “can’t afford” to concede on his legacy as academics at Griffith University want his name “ditched”.
Sir Samuel was the inaugural Chief Justice of Australia, a Queensland Premier and one of the architects of the Australian Constitution.
Griffith University academics have re-evaluated the founding father as an “enabler of massacres” with “blood on his hands”.
Mr Boffa said if people want to “cancel” Sir Samuel they will “have an opponent” in the Sir Samuel Griffith Society.
“We can’t afford to concede on Griffith’s legacy because to do so is to concede on those fundamental principles,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.Read MoreThe Australian
