Posted by Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie says China’s response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is “quite concerning”.
“Firing missiles near Taiwan, it’s actually a big escalation,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Mr Hastie said “authoritarian powers are on the move” as over the last decade, China has had a “trust deficit” with its neighbours.
“This sort of behaviour does nothing to build trust among nations and I think it concerning, it’s definitely an escalation on what we’ve seen.”
