From July, 6-month long NRI fest to kick-start

On Wednesday, India’s union tourism minister, Shripad Yesso Naik, introduced the logo of a six-month-long NRI festival. It would be held from July 2022. The logo’s tagline is ‘Connecting Sentiments’, which shows India’s connection with the Indian diaspora emotionally worldwide.

NRI community and its crucial role it played was emphasized by Naik and reiterated the statement of Prime Minister Modi that the Indian diaspora is just like the cultural ambassadors of our country.

On sports and culture, at the festival, there will be a series of events, where special invitation will be sent to the NRI community who are residing outside the country. Marathon, kabaddi, cricket and yoga endeavour to make sure that the NRI youth diaspora takes part in these sports and fitness events such and feels a good bond with the Indians who are staying in the India.

The president of Rejoice Health foundation, Dr. Naval Kumar Verma, which is arranging this NRI festival, together with Power Sportz, explained that the six-month-long festival will mainly aim on India being a formidable “global power”, at this moment as we observe 75th year of Independence, and target on the 32 million diasporas who are living outside the country.

A former kabaddi and volleyball player, Minister Naik, mainly highlighted on the sports events and made a dedicated request to all the non-resident Indians to come and take part in the festival.
