Sri Lanka Tourism will engage in a series of roadshows in key Indian cities from September 26–30, 2022, in order to further strengthen its bilateral and cultural ties with its Indian counterparts.
On September 26, the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi will host the first road show.
On September 28, the St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai will host the second road show, and on September 30, the Taj Krishna Hotel will host the final road performance in Hyderabad.
India is leading the way and holding down the top spot in terms of the number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka.
Since India is one of Sri Lanka’s major source markets and has been so supportive in helping Sri Lanka regain lost momentum following the pandemic and the recent economic downturn, Sri Lanka Tourism stated that the primary goal of hosting these roadshows is to promote Sri Lanka as an alluring tourist destination throughout India.
The event emphasises the positive message that Sri Lanka is available for leisure, business, and MICE tourism while promoting a wide range of tourism experiences and encouraging potential passengers to make reservations.
A group of more than 50 local travel agencies and hotels will attend this event, lead by the minister of tourism, Harin Fernando, who will be joined by the directors of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.
This project has received backing from many industry participants, including Sri Lankan Airlines and MasterCard.
Each roadshow will start with B2B Sessions that will facilitate a number of discussions, then an evening networking event that will also serve to strengthen business relationships.
The target audience at these roadshows will be travel agents, the media, key opinion leaders, corporations, trade associations, and important players in the Indian tourism industry who are able to convey the message that Sri Lanka is not only one of the most beautiful nations, but also safe and secure, adhering to all necessary health and safety regulations.
